A couple of weeks ago I went down to Borthwick castle beside North middleton, just past Gorebridge. The woods nearby are managed by the woodland trust and run either side of a burn called middleton south burn, the woods are themselves are called Currie Woods. We walked through leafy greenness with lots of dappled light gently filtering through the canopy. I loved the earthy, mossy smells and all the little plants underfoot. I tasted a bit of wild sorrell, a sweet peppery taste like a lemony rocket. There were primroses snuggling around the trees looking very light and luminous beside all the pungent green and brown.
